Discussion Questions #1

Part one of this project is to explore what it means to have a digital life, what power we have over our digital life and what power our digital life has over us.

  1. To what degree do you live online?
  2. Do you have a personal electronic device (like a cell phone)? How could you do your school work on it?
  3. Do computers give us more human connections or less human connections?
  4. If you had to write 5 rules for internet ethics and manners what would they be?
  5. Do you think teachers should encourage or discourage multitasking?
  6. What is better for teaching and learning D2L (closed learning management system) or blogs or other open public social networking tools? Why?
  7. Is there a need for online relationships in learning?
  8. Write a 6 word story summarizing an experience that you've had "living" and "learning" online. Take a look at some of the stories on the PBS website for inspiration.
  9. Control + Click brings up the speech option. Highlight the words to your poem and then click the speech option. You should have heard your words spoken. How could this help you?

Ends Statement Response

E-3: Citi
Each student will be a responsible citizen by being an informed and involved member in his or her local, national and global communities.

E-5: Character
Each student will possess the character to do what is right, act morally with wisdom, and balance individual concerns with the rights and needs of others.

Post either the Citizenship or Character Ends statement that you are going to work towards and reflect on why you choose it. Include a list of activities that you already do that display that objective.

To capture the image of my poster (on a mac) on the wall I used photoshop and off my computer I held down command, shift and F4, clicked over the area. Then I imported it off my desktop, using the add image blogger tool (the picture).
